Federal Government Suspends Vaccine Mandate

The Canadian government is removing the vaccine mandate for federal employees, transportation workers and for domestic and outbound international travellers.

June 15, 2022: Yesterday, the federal government announced the suspension of the COVID-19 vaccine mandate for federal employees, transportation workers and domestic and outbound international travellers on trains and planes effective June 20. The vaccination requirements for passengers and crew of cruise ships will remain in effect.

TDF, along with all Canadians, welcomes the suspension of the COVID-19 vaccine mandate.  However, TDF is unconvinced that the federal government will not reinstate the travel mandate at some arbitrary date in the future, and we, therefore, continue to monitor the situation.

Throughout the pandemic, TDF has worked to oppose this arguably unconstitutional infringement on civil liberties. Yet many other restrictions remain that prevent unvaccinated Canadians from participating in normal life. Our legal team is committed to fighting these remaining restrictions.
