TDF releases legal brief for Canadian politicians on The Emergencies Act

Canadian parliamentarians and staff may review and share our documentation on the proclamation of a Public Order Emergency. We explain what The Emergencies Act is, how it can be used, and how to oppose its use.

TORONTO: The Liberal Government of Justin Trudeau has caused the Governor in Council to proclaim a public order emergency pursuant to section 17 of The Emergencies Act. The Democracy Fund's legal team has put together a brief for Canadian politicians looking to better understand and respond to the use of The Emergencies Act.

The Democracy Fund is a registered non-partisan charity with a mandate to promote constitutional rights in Canada, through litigation and education.
